Description:
The Wedding Ministry is designed to extend a warm welcome and hospitality to those choosing to celebrate their wedding at St. Francis Xavier. Members of this ministry serve in teams of two and assist at every scheduled wedding ceremony. Duties vary, and may range from answering questions guests may have about the history of the church building to assisting with the last minute details.
Team members assigned to a wedding arrive at the church approximately one hour prior to the scheduled start time to set up the altar and be available to assist the florist, photographer, lectors, musicians, and visiting celebrants by familiarizing them with the church. Assistance to the bridal party varies from pinning on boutonnieres to lining up for the opening procession. Occasionally, team members may also be called on to serve as Eucharistic Ministers. Team members remain during the ceremony and assist with some reorganizations tasks at the conclusion.
Time Commitment:
Approximately two and one half hours per wedding, and the average number of assignments per year is eight.
