The Mission of the School of Religious Education at St. Francis Xavier is to provide sound catechetical formation to help supplement what parents have already begun in the home. Together, we can continue the the rich tradition of sharing God's story that the church has developed over the centuries. Together, we can help our children discover who Jesus is, how God is present in their lives, and what we as Catholic Christians, believe.

If you have any questions about our program, please contact the Religious Education Office at (708) 352-4555.

The School of Religious Education offers catechesis that:

  • Continuously searches for the most effective way to bring faith experiences and beliefs to the children and youth of the parish.
  • Promotes knowledge of our Catholic Faith.
  • Teaches that prayer and regular Sunday Mass attendance is essential in enriching faith life.
  • Teaches and explains the meaning of liturgy and sacraments.
  • Teaches that we are a community working together to nourish the life and mission of the Catholic Church.
