Dedication to Service

ST. FRANCIS XAVIER ALL-SCHOOL SERVICE PROGRAM

More than any other program or activity, our all-school Service Program exemplifies who we are as a school.  In 2010, St. Francis Xavier School won the Maxine Donahue Award, an award presented by the National Catholic Educational Association.  Each year, all year, students are engaged with people and causes throughout the community to allow our them to fully understand the meaning of service.  Not only strengthening the community and helping those in need, this program empowers our students to see the change they can affect.  The school community has committed itself to providing an integrated service program that connects meaningful service opportunities with curriculum based learning and prayerful reflection.  The program is run by parent volunteers in consultation with classroom teachers.  On Service Day , the First Friday in December, the entire school participates in service at a variety of locations and for many causes across the Chicagoland area.  This program allows us to practice and live the school motto…  “We Pray, We Learn, We Serve”

Throughout the school year, each grade has a service theme on which to focus its PRAYER, EDUCATION, ACTION and REFLECTION.

Guided by the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching, the themes are:
